Hi, I’m Nala Heer—artist, instructor, and the heart behind Zara Studio & Co.

Art has always been my way of connecting with the world and expressing the emotions we can’t always put into words. I grew up painting alongside my mom, learning to find beauty in the little things, sunflowers, sunsets, and quiet moments. From the start, creating art wasn’t about perfection - it was about feeling, connection, and sharing something meaningful with the people around me.

For a long time, though, I put my art on the back burner to focus on work and the practical parts of life. But after becoming a mom, I found my way back to painting during a season of searching, trying to balance being present for my family while holding on to the parts of myself that made me feel alive. What started as a few pet portraits during the holidays turned into something much bigger: a dream of sharing art with my community in a way that feels fun, welcoming, and real.

Zara Studio & Co. is how I do that. Through paint & sip events, face painting at celebrations, and creating meaningful pet portraits, I help people experience the simple joy of creativity. Whether you’re a total beginner or someone who’s been making art for years, I want you to feel at home wherever I set up. I believe art is for everyone - messy, colorful, imperfect, and full of life.

I hope that when you paint with me, or see your child smile with a face full of color, or hang a portrait of your beloved pet in your home, you feel a little spark of that joy, too. This work is deeply personal to me, and it’s a privilege to share it with others.
